Barbara has over 10 years experience in laboratory and R&D operations management in the biotech industry and academic institutions in Canada and abroad. She joined Abdera Therapeutics, a Vancouver-founded biotech start-up, in 2022 as Manager for Laboratory Operations.

Apart from operational projects and processes, Barbara is passionate about laboratory design, space planning, EH&S, and biosafety.  She has led the design, commission, set up, and operations of several CL2 and CL2+, analytics, and chemistry laboratories as well as radiochemistry and vivarium facilities, working with diverse stakeholder groups for each project. Following her passion, Barbara recently started to consult on research facility and laboratory design projects to ensure that space and infrastructure requirements of highly specialized equipment are fully integrated into the design from the outset and the space planning aligns with end user needs.
