​Steven Corfe is the Director of the Research Facilities Department at UHN. Research Facilities provides solutions and services for UHN’s scientific committee, which has contributed to UHN being a national and international leader for discovery, education and patient care. In this role Steven leads a group project managers that execute projects over 4 research institutes and more than 1M sq ft of research space within UHN. As part of this team, Steven oversees a departmental portfolio of over 250 projects with a total budget of ~$100M. Success of these projects is dependent upon his ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and liaise with UHN Executives, Research Institute Directors and Business Officers, as well as the scientific community as a whole.

Prior to this role, Steven was a Project Manger (PM) with the group and completed over 100 projects, including large-scale renovations and relocations, specialized laboratory equipment procurement and installation, laboratory start-ups/close-outs, as well as grant applications, implementation and reporting. Highlights of this work include the laboratory and medicinal chemistry fit-out of the Krembil Discovery Tower (KDT), a new 9-storey, $174M research tower housing more than 150 researchers, as well as being the PM lead for the operationalization of KDT and relocation of labs into the tower. Additionally, he has successfully completed procurement and space renovation for the installation of numerous pieces of complex research equipment, including MRI, NMR, Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, and Mass Spectrometry equipment.
