Knowledge & Networking Event
Join us at the upcoming SLCan Vancouver Chapter event, where we simulate the leasing process of tenants in the life science industry!
Christopher O’Neil from Floorspace will guide us through the fundamental considerations for leasing small to medium-sized Life Science companies. The discussion will cover the crucial elements that can make or break a successful agreement and will be supported by other subject matter experts who will share their insights on Architectural and Engineering considerations related to laboratory fit-out. These considerations differ from early-stage translational space in Post-Secondary Institutions. The discussion will also include a local developer from Alliance Partners Development who will provide their perspective on leasing new or existing spaces and optimizing them to meet the tenant’s specific requirements, facility conditions, and regulatory processes. Don’t miss out on this informative event!

Creating a Science Hub in Vancouver, Life Science Spaces – Now and Future
This year, British Columbia launched its Biomanufacturing strategy, outlining key priorities to nurture innovation and bolster the province’s business ecosystem. This strategic approach proactively seeks to achieve several objectives, including the generation of high-income positions within the biomanufacturing sector, the retention of companies and intellectual property within British Columbia, the establishment of connections with global life sciences markets, the enhancement of access to ground-breaking medical treatments, the attraction of skilled talent, support for a sustainable economy, and the reinforcement of pandemic response capabilities.
At the core of this strategy lies the imperative need to enhance the Life Science infrastructure supply, which involves creating a diverse array of laboratory spaces, encompassing research offices, dry labs, wet labs, and specialized research facilities tailored to meet unique requirements. The limited availability of such laboratory spaces in the Lower Mainland currently stands as a significant obstacle, hampering research outcomes and the growth prospects of local startups and businesses.
In its inaugural event, the Vancouver chapter of SLCan is bringing together an esteemed panel of experts, comprising tenants of recently established research facilities, life science developers, and real estate transaction experts, to conduct an in-depth exploration of the challenges associated with laboratory space development.
Please remember to secure your spot today to actively participate in the conversation and make the most of the networking opportunities available.
